Never really alone in the saddle.

Four steps, nothing to press, nothing to wear.

Z-KUR runs on the phone already in your pocket. It works for hacking, schooling and competition, on any horse.

1

Your phone detects a hard fall

Automatically. 97% detection in our tests. Nothing to press, nothing to wear.

2

A trained operator calls you

Within seconds, day and night, and checks you are all right. If it was nothing you ride on.

3

No answer, or a real emergency: 999 is called

999 receives your exact location and the information emergency teams need. Two Z-KUR users nearby are asked to come and make the scene safe.

4

Your family and friends are told

The moment help is on its way. Adding them is free.

What happens in the minutes that matter.

The phone asks you to confirm. Whether you answer and say you are hurt, or cannot answer at all, a Z-KUR trained operator takes over. 999 receives your exact location, who you are and the medical information that matters for this emergency. Two Z-KUR users nearby are asked to come, check on you and make the scene safe until help arrives. Family and friends are kept informed throughout.
To date, not a single false alert has been passed to the emergency services: a trained person verifies every one.

In the middle

The Kurator: a trained operator who sees the map, the rider's details and the nearest Z-KUR users, and briefs 999.

The rider's phone

A hard fall is detected. Say yes, say no, or say nothing: a trained operator calls either way.

A Z-KUR user nearby

Guided to the exact spot and asked to make the scene safe until help arrives.

The fall no one sees.

Half of riders report a fall in any given year. The statistics tell us how often we fall; they say nothing about how long anyone waited for help when nobody was around.
53%

of nearly 2,000 UK riders reported at least one fall in 12 months, and one fall in four happened out hacking.

3.5×

Hour for hour, riding injures more people than motorcycling: 0.49 injuries per 1,000 hours in the saddle, against 0.14 on a motorbike.

45%

of adult sports-related brain injuries treated in US trauma centres come from riding, more than any other sport.

1 in 3

More than a third of riders were alone the last time they rode.

"My wife rides alone most days, and as a doctor I know what the first minutes after a fall mean. The horse coming home alone should not be the alarm system."

Philippe Koch, founding doctor, Z-KUR
Z-KUR was designed by three doctors who, after years in medicine, knew how much the first minutes change an outcome. They built it first for their own families, then for yours: one system for any emergency, designed to cross borders, with a trained operator who gives 999 only the medical details that matter for that emergency.
Z-KUR works alongside your insurance and a well-fitted hat, never instead of them.

One app, any emergency, for the whole family.

At home, at the yard, on the road

The same trained operators answer for a medical emergency at home or at the yard, a child or a relative who has gone missing, an assault in the street, or a fire.

Cardiac arrest

The app shows the nearest public defibrillators, and owners can register their own.

Family and friends, free

Add the people who matter as contacts at no cost. They are told the moment help is on its way.

Rescue Village

Sponsored by Z-KUR. Come and say hello.

Five things every rider can do.

1

Tell someone your route and when you expect to be back, every time.

2

Wear your hat, properly fitted and fastened, on every ride.

3

Carry your phone on your body, not on the saddle. A phone in a saddle bag rides home with the horse.

4

Keep your medical information up to date and reachable by the people treating you. An unconscious diabetic rider, or one on blood thinners, is at greater risk if nobody knows.

5

Use technology that raises the alarm when you can't. Z-KUR detects a fall and, through a trained operator, gives 999 your location and the details that matter, even if you can't speak.

Straight answers.

Do I need to wear or buy anything?
No. Z-KUR runs on your phone. Carry it on your body, not in a saddle
bag.
Your phone asks you to confirm. If you say you are fine, or a trained operator reaches you and you are fine, nothing goes further. To date, not a single false alert has been passed to the emergency services.
Z-KUR needs an internet connection on your phone, that is all. Where there is no coverage at all, no app can send an alert, and we are working on new connectivity solutions to cover those areas.
No. Z-KUR watches your battery level and adapts: as the charge goes down, it switches to lighter detection modes so it keeps working without emptying your phone. It has been running on our own phones, every day, for more than three years.
No. Z-KUR works alongside your insurance and a well-fitted hat, never instead of them.
Any smartphone: iPhone and Android, whatever the model.
Today Z-KUR is live with 999 across the UK and 112 in Ireland. It was designed to cross borders, and we are actively working to open new destinations on four continents.
