Across the European Union, 112 works as a single emergency number alongside each country’s local number, reachable free of charge from any mobile phone, even without a local SIM or credit. In the UK, 999 remains the primary number, with 112 also connecting to the same service. Ireland uses 112 and 999 interchangeably.
